Idiots shocked that a lion can show affection

OK, sure, the lion shouldn't be behind bars, but it's been kept in a circus so it probably has no chance of making it in the wild now anyway.

The funny part of the story is the tagline, quote; "People Shocked To See Affection Between Pair"

What is supposed to be so amazing about this? Have these people never had a pet? Animals feel emotion, suffer, think, play and most other things people do (apart from intentionally exploiting everything else on the planet for as much cash as possible). The only shocking thing is that anyone can find it shocking. Many of us have richer lives because instead of seeing an animal as lunch we see them as a living being with whom we are sharing the planet and, in some cases, with whom we can occasionally form a special bond. It's a shame for the people who miss this in their lives.
