Pedophilia legal, protest isn't

Some may be aware of the recent publicity regarding a confessed pedophile who can't be charged with anything because looking at and photographing young girls isn't actually illegal. The latest development is that a restraining order has been issued.

Note the following comment from a "first amendment expert" and a reply from one of the lawyers involved:
"They have an understandable worry this guy is going to do something bad," said Volokh. "But that's not enough. You need at least probable cause to believe some crime has been committed."

Zinnanti responded, "This is a civil harassment restraining order; it's not a criminal behavior matter. There is a compelling case that this guy is involved in annoying, stalking, loitering."
Where were these people when the SHAC 7 went to jail for saying that animal testing is bad? This asshole admits to posting pictures of little girls for his amusement and the amusement of other sick fucks, but there's no money in preventing kids from being raped so it's not illegal. A number of protesters report on the hideous cruelty going on in HLS and get 23 years, because talking about stopping assholes making money from the suffering of other beings is terrorism. Noone in the SHAC 7 actually damaged property, hurt a person or did anything other than spread information to the public.

That's one hell of a double standard.

In an astonishing display of fairness, a judge ruled that posting info about an ALF action after the fact didn't infer a threat of iminent violence:
"It appears that the only allegation of harassment linked to the named defendants in this case is Bite Back's alleged after-the-fact Web site reporting of the Netherlands incident and its simultaneous identification of the names and addresses of involved and affiliated NYSE Euronext employees accompanied by an exhortation for its readers to e-mail, spam and call them 'day and night' to protest their relationship with HLS and LSR," the judge said.

"These allegations do not remotely rise to the level of a threat or incitement to violence against the personal safety of anyone."
The ALF are left to do the work the "legitimate" animal cruelty investigators should be doing, as usual:
