6000 mink were liberated in Newfoundland on Septmber 15, 2007:

The genius quote of the article:
RCMP Const. Trevor O'Keefe said the release was an act of sabotage.
Oh, gee you think?

Pause for a moment to think of what 6000 mink stuffed into a "farm" must look like. 6000 beautiful, little furry animals waiting to be electrocuted to death so that the Olsen Twins can wrap a new coat around their emaciated bodies. It should be enough to make anyone sick.

(long URL warning)

This has of course, sent the local idiots into a frenzy. The media has come out with the Jimbo and Ned "we have to kill them or they'll die" BS, proposed we farm kangaroos for profit and every other possible stupid comment.

The fight isn't over; the California state bill to allow kangaroo to be sold is still working its way through government:

If you've ever wondered what the large black furry hats the Queen of Britain's guards wear are made from, they are genuine black bear:

Apparently the worst complaint about humane alternatives is that they don't look nice.

Yes, I can see that having a nice looking fluffy hat is the most important aspect of providing security for the British Royal family.

Unlike most other stores that are replacing their fur coats with compassionate, faux fur choices, one dapartment store in the US has put their dog-fur coats back on sale with an altered label:

The fact that these coats are leather seems to have escaped most people in this ongoing story. Leather is the skin of an animal too:
