This is a nice article about how a vegan diet is promoted to assist cancer sufferers, which is of course a good idea (amazingly, a herbivore who eats a herbivorous diet gets less diseases, who'd of thought?).

However, issue must be taken with one sentence in the article:
[QUOTE]
Vegan is a term that distinguishes pure vegetarians from those who eat poultry, fish or dairy products.
[END QUOTE]
What the fuck? When was the last time you saw a fish growing on a fucking tree?
Vegetarian describes a diet. A vegetarian can eat honey, wear leather and use animal tested products and still be called vegetarian (and a few other things I won't mention) but no product involving the flesh or organs of a dead animal are vegetarian (that means no chickens or fish, unless you have a chicken tree in your back yard).
Vegan is a lifestyle and philosophy, in which no product that involved the exploitation of an animal is used in any way. Silk, leather, wool, honey, milk, eggs and any other product in which an animal played a part are excluded.
Here ends Basic Fucking Terminology 101. Let's all hope the media will one day get a clue.
