Sheep can, amazingly, be bred to avoid the "necessity" of mulesing, reports an Austalian news source:

"Well duh!" springs to mind as an appropriate comment. Even with standard Merinos, proper care and reasonable stocking rates obviate any need for mulesing; it's just a case of the cheapest solution for lazy farmers. As many have been saying for a while now, there's no need to wait until 2010 to phase out this barbaric practice.

Now they just have to realise that live exports are even worse:

Even better; let's stop farming the sheep in the first place, and solve all the problems in one hit.

This is just weeks after a typically pro-cruelty "news" report from one of the local tabloid trash programs discussing how misguided PETA was in its wool campaign. How does that feel now fuckers?
